Urgent Intervention Needed – Giggle Fibre’s Unwanted Telegraph Poles in Garforth

Dear Prime Minister,

I am writing on behalf of concerned residents in Garforth regarding Giggle Fibre’s ongoing installation of telegraph poles for broadband infrastructure, despite strong community opposition. This issue highlights serious gaps in regulation that allow telecoms companies to override local objections without proper consultation or transparency.

Local authorities have no real power to intervene.

Under the Telecommunications Acts 1983 and 2003, companies have permitted development rights to install infrastructure without planning permission. This outdated framework leaves communities powerless, while telecom providers proceed unchecked.

We urge the government to revise telecoms legislation to require local planning approval.
